Privacy Policy
Effective June 9, 2026
Kept is built so that your data never has to leave your control. The short version: we collect nothing. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no servers of ours that ever see your recipes.
What we collect
Nothing. Kept has no developer-operated servers, collects no personal data, and sends no information about you or your usage to us or to any third party. The app contains no analytics frameworks and no third-party tracking of any kind.
Where your recipes are stored
Your recipes are saved as plain-text Cooklang files in your own iCloud Drive, in the Kept folder, along with any photos you attach. They sync between your devices through your personal iCloud account under Apple's privacy terms. We have no access to your iCloud data. If iCloud is unavailable, recipes are stored locally on your device instead.
Camera and photo library
Kept asks for camera access only when you scan a recipe card or take a photo of a dish, and photo library access only when you import an image or attach one to a recipe. Images are processed entirely on your device and stored alongside your recipes in your iCloud Drive. They are never uploaded to us or to any third party.
Apple Intelligence and on-device AI
Recipe generation, classification, and import conversion use Apple's on-device Foundation Models. All processing happens on your device — prompts, photos, and recipe text are never sent to us or to any external AI service.
Importing recipes from the web
When you import a recipe from a link, your device fetches that web page directly — the same as visiting it in your browser. These requests are user-initiated, go only to the site you chose, and are not routed through, logged, or stored by us.
Children's privacy
Kept does not collect data from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes, the new version will be posted at this address with an updated effective date. Because Kept collects nothing, we expect changes to be rare.
